Rodney Allen Pius, JD

Rodney Allen Pius was born May 26, 1982 and passed away unexpectatly June 16, 2021 in his home. He is survived by his parents Matt and Sandy Pius, younger sister Becky (Dustin) Soop, his nieces Rilee Smith, Ellie and Addie Soop, and his chosen nieces Zoey and Isla Scott. He will also be missed by his family and friends who cared deeply for him.

If you knew Rodney you knew he was bringing his huge smile, jolly laugh, and his opinion to any event he was at. He was great at keeping in touch with his friends and lending a helping hand in any way that he could. Many expressed at his passing that they just talked recently, he had messaged to offer help, or called just to check in on them.

Rodney would joke that he was a professional student. He loved to learn and held many academic accomplishments. His first goal was to become a doctor of sports medicine which led him to receive his undergrad from Wayne State University in Chemistry, and a Masters degree from Wayne State University in Kinestetics. In the end he received his Judicial Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

When Rodney was interested in a topic there was no stopping him from participating full heartedly. Rodney’s interest in bowling, video games, and anime led him to meet some of the many friends in his life. If you got him talking on one of these subjects, you knew you were going down the rabbit hole with him. Rodney bowled in many local bowling leagues in Metro Detroit and supported the Roseville High School Bowling league after graduating high school. One of his great achievements were the 3 perfect games Rodney was able to bowl.

A memorial of life will be held Friday June 25, 2021 at Harbor Lanes/Sports Channel (25419 Jefferson Ave, St Claire Shores MI) at 5 pm to 10 pm.  All are welcome to celebrate Rodney’s life.
